Linda teaches piano and Kindermusik in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she has lived since 1988. She holds a BA in music theory and literature from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a MA in piano pedagogy from Eastern Michigan University, where she also studied music composition with Anthony Iannacconne and open classroom philosophy with Dr. Gordon Belt. Linda has adjudicated piano events for various organizations in Michigan and she has judged the MTNA student composition competition. She also served on the MMTA Commissioned Composer selection panel.
Linda has been singing and working with a variety of vocal groups throughout her life. Her choral work has brought her to Vienna, where she sang at St. Michael's Church; and Eisenstadt, Austria, where she rehearsed and performed in the palace where Franz Joseph Haydn composed and performed for much of his life. She has most recently sung with the Ann Arbor Cantata Singers and the Vocal Arts Ensemble and has served on their boards of directors. She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Michigan Music Teachers Association, the Ann Arbor Area Piano Teachers Guild and the Kindermusik Educators Association, where she served as a regional director from 2001 to 2003.
Linda was trained and licensed in the Kindermusik curricula in 1991 at a time when she was focusing on finishing her graduate studies. After graduating with her masters degree and settling down to continue teaching her studio of over 40 students, Linda realized there was something missing in her life -- young children. With her own two daughters growing too quickly, she realized that she needed very young children back in her life, and began building her Kindermusik program. Even though her Kindermusik studio has grown to over 225 students, the novelty of teaching infants, toddlers, and preschoolers has never worn off. "It truly is a privilege to work with these young children. It is so exciting to be sharing the joy of music with children when they are at the earliest stages of learning and at the time when music is the most beneficial for them. We really have a great time!"
In addition to managing her Kindermusik business and piano studio, Linda has also worked as a workshop administrator, regional advisor, and more recently, a mentor with Kindermusik International. "I love working with teachers in training, helping them discover the joys of teaching young children. The quality of the Kindermusik program is something that I am proud to share, and most new teachers are really surprised at the depth of the curriculum content." By helping to train others, Linda is able to indirectly bring music to a larger number of children whose lives will be enriched by music.
Through Kindermusik, Linda has the opportunity to share her love of music and singing with the young children whose company she so enjoys while helping these children and their families realize the best of their potential
